Event Details:
The City of Pembroke has proclaimed May 1, 2024 as First Responders Day, in keeping with the Province’s declaration enacted in 2013. This is to recognize the volunteers and professionals who have dedicated their lives to public service in the protection and preservation of life, property, evidence, and the environment.
In recognition of the vital role played by first responders in our own community, the City of Pembroke recently passed a by-law renaming the street running through Waterfront Park to First Responders Way, effective May 1, 2024.
We cordially invite all first responders past and present and their loved ones to a brief ceremony unveiling what is believed to be the first street in Ontario dedicated to first responders. The ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. on May 1 and last approximately 30 minutes.
The street will be closed to traffic. You are welcome to bring and park any emergency equipment within the closure at the ceremony to recognize the day. We understand both personnel and equipment may need to depart in case of emergency.
We hope you can join us for this momentous occasion and help us to acknowledge the first responders who have done so much for all of us in Pembroke.
