Have you ever wondered how a street sweeper works or how Pembroke’s roads get plowed?

Learn about this and more at the City of Pembroke Operations Department Open House!

Everyone is invited Wednesday, May 21 from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. for a day of free, interactive fun.

Learn about the programs, equipment, and people who work behind the scenes to keep our lights on, taps flowing, toilets flushing, and roads operating smoothly.

Come out to the Operations Department at 460 River Rd. to meet your public works staff, see some hands-on displays, and explore some of our heavy machinery such as snowplows, backhoe, sidewalk machine, front end loader, and street sweeper.

*If there’s rain, the event will be moved to Thursday, May 22.

This open house takes place during Public Works Week (May 18-24), which recognizes and celebrates our public works professionals who contribute to and enhance the quality of life in our community.

In Pembroke, our public works staff play important roles in giving us:

• roads safe to travel on
• clean, running water 
• flushing toilets and effective sewer systems
• stormwater management 
• a City that grows and improves to meet our needs
• and more!

Even though their work is often behind the scenes, our City couldn’t run without them!
