Event Details:

The Pembroke Parks & Recreation Department is excited to introduce its first-ever Try-It: Ice Skating Program! With instruction from Pembroke Skating Club coaches Kali and Rayah, these sessions offer individuals of all ages an encouraging introduction to the basics of skating.

Participants will focus on three core areas of development: balance, control, and agility. Skills covered include body control, stopping, gliding, backward skating, proper push technique, and more. Each class will feature a mix of group instruction, skill circuits, breakout groups, and practice time. Please note that young children must be supervised on the ice by a parent.

Two free sessions will be offered during the 2025/2026 skating season:

·         October 5, 2025 | 2:00–3:30 p.m.

·         January 4, 2026 | 10:00–11:00 a.m.

Although there is no cost to participate, space is limited. Pre-registration is strongly recommended through the City’s online booking system at Pembroke.ca/Booking.

This program supports a key recommendation of the Parks & Recreation Master Plan to pilot new community programs in response to resident feedback and emerging interests. By offering a safe and welcoming introduction to skating, it not only helps individuals and families determine their interest in pursuing further lessons but also builds confidence on the ice and raises awareness of opportunities through the Pembroke Skating Club.
